In 1986 Muammar Qaddafi was at the peak of his power as dictator of Libya, before he became a beneficial pseudo-ally to the western nations. On the first of January that year the Libyan Post Office issues a new definitive set of 12 stamps, with face values ranging from 50 to 2550dh (roughly 25p to £12.50), featuring an image of Qaddafi in Military Uniform.
They were subsequently withdraw 2 hours later after somebody noticed that his right shoulder epaulette bore the Star of David, a Jewish symbol hated by the extremist views of hard-line muslims. Now cats at €1000 per set. Wonder what happened to the designer?
